In 1974, George Weissenberger founded MEI to provide engineering consulting and project management to companies using bulk storage and pneumatic conveying in a variety of industries. The result George saw was that many of his customers were experiencing a high level of system failure that stemmed from systems not designed or installed to be maintained. The company quickly began supplying total systems, installation, and system preventative maintenance services. Joined by his son Mark, a mechanical engineer, they began developing systems engineered for life.

Dover Equipment, Inc. was established in 1979 as a manufacturer’s representative organization dealing primarily in the dry material handling.Incorporated in 1981, the company, in addition to representing various companies and their products, began the designing, engineering, and manufacturing of complete material handling systems and related components.Dover Equipment, Inc. has prided itself on the dependability and quality of its products, as well as its ability to adapt to the changing needs and requirements of its customers.

In 2007, Dover and MEI merged making DoverMEI a major participant in the material handling industry. Our systems have one of the highest non-failure rates in the industry. The company designs and installs material handling systems both liquid and dry materials. We provide innovative designs in the pneumatic conveying systems, dust collection, bulk storage, and batching control systems for the textile, adhesive, paper, plastic, chemical, and baking industries, as well as others. Many of our projects include system retrofits, upgrades, and interfaces with material handling equipment, regardless of original supplier or manufacturer.

DoverMEI provides consulting, manufacturing, system engineering, installation, preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and 24-hour emergency service to our clients.
